Acupuncture at Holistic Health Solutions

If you have a kink in your garden hose, the plants will not receive adequate water and will wither and die. For over 8000 years, acupuncturists have been detecting and correcting where the kinks, or blockages exists in vital energy of the body. The Chinese refer to this energy as Qi. When proper flow of Qi is reestablished to the body’s cells, tissues and organs, health is restored.

With 20 years experience as a Doctor of Oriental Medicine, Dr. John Montoya is greatly valued as a gifted healer.

Chinese Nutrition Philosophy of Yin and Yang

The philosophy of Yin and Yang lies at the heart of Chinese Medicine and especially Chinese cooking. Low and high, dark side and sunny side, hot and cold, male and female…Opposites set in balance to create harmony at the table and in the body. If this balance is not achieved, the Chinese believe the body becomes vulnerable to illness. When cooking, the Chinese try to adhere to yin and yang principles in every dish.

This concept of Yin and Yang relates to food. Opposites are set in balance to create harmony in the body. If harmony is not achieved the body can be vulnerable to disease. Chinese Chefs believe in the importance of following the principles of Yin and Yang in the diet. There is always a balance in color, flavors, and textures. In China, live seafood, fresh meat and seasonal vegetables and fruits ae used when preparing meals. Chinese daily meals consist of four food groups: meat, vegetable, fruit and grains. For more information about the Yin and Yang lifestyle of nutrition please discuss this with Dr. John.

Acupuncture, Nutrition and Chinese Herbs

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese system of medicine in which the practice of inserting fine needles into specific points on the body to illicit a specific response to help the body heal itself. Traditional Chinese Medicine believes the body has a series of Meridians that run through out the body, much like the electrical system of a house. Just like a house, there are switches and electrical outlets placed at different areas in the house, each with its own individual purpose. Along the meridians, there are points, that when activated by either pressure or a needle, can activate the flow of energy or Qi (pronounced ‘Chee”) along the Meridian. When Dr. John assesses his patients, he will choose a variety of acupuncture points to place needles in along the meridians to urge the body to balance the Qi in the meridians.  Bringing balance to the meridians, and ultimately the whole body, will help create a state of health in the body.

Acupuncture is used to treat any and all illnesses, syndromes and imbalances in the body. Acupuncture is a proven method to improving the quality of life.
